MILT
Morrisville Information Literacy Tutorial

Welcome to MILT (Morrisville Information Literacy Tutorial)!

MILT is an educational Web site designed to introduce you to research sources and skills. This version has been modified from the original to reflect the needs of Morrisville State College students. The tutorial is organized in three modules which you can complete in any order. The modules are:

  1. Selecting: focus on the different sources of information, where to find these sources, and how to choose the best ones for your research.
  2. Searching: focus on selecting the best source to search, choosing the most appropriate words, and combining them successfully.
  3. Evaluating: focus on locating, evaluating, and citing print and electronic sources.
Each one should take you 30 minutes.

All three modules include:

  • an introduction
  • a list of key concepts and skills you should learn
  • main text and interactions
  • a quiz

You can explore other parts of MILT using the blue bars at the top and bottom of the module screens. General tips are available in HELP, explanations of key terms are offered in WORD, a list of the ideas is shown in CONCEPTS, and access to all pages within a module is available through MAP. You can also tell us what you think using INPUT. At the end of each module is a brief quiz, so feel free to take notes if it will help. Before continuing with the tutorial, scroll down to the next half of the page to see if your computer has the necessary things on it to do this tutorial.

Get Ready...
Be sure to check these 3 things before you continue. If you have any problems, ask a librarian in library or check your computer lab. The computers in the library and all laptops on campus will have these items already.
