  • Recognizing Women's Right To Vote In New York State

    Posted on: September 5, 2018

On November 6, 1917, women won the right to vote in New York State, nearly seventy years after women organized the first women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, N.Y. in 1848.

An exhibition on the origins, inspirations, and challenges of establishing women's voting rights in New York State will be on display in the Library Gallery through the month of September.

See the New York Heritage Digital Collections companion web site at https://nyheritage.org/exhibits/recognizing-womens-right-vote-new-york-state for additional information and primary documents.

The exhibition was curated by Julia Corrice, Susan Goodier, and Sally Roesch Wagner of the South Central Regional Library Council, in partnership with the Empire State Library Network and New York Heritage Digital Collections, with funding from Humanities New York. Exhibition materials were contributed by colleges, libraries, museums and historical societies from across New York State and the Nation.
