    Book Displays (Check These Out)

    • Hispanic Heritage - Books and DVDs spotlighting the contributions of Hispanic citizens and the issues they face in American society
    • Banned Books - Celebrate the freedom to read. You may be surprised by the books that people have attempted to remove from library and bookstore shelves.

    Gallery Shows

    • September 24th through November 5th - Visions of the macabre from renowned local artist Lee Brown Coye (1907 - 1981) will return to our Gallery Wall to get you in the mood for the Halloween season. In the 1960s, Coye's work appeared in pulp magazines including Weird Tales and Fantastic and Amazing as well as H.P. Lovecraft story collections. He won the World Fantasy Award for best artist in 1975 and 1976. See if you can spot the crossed sticks motif that he frequently included in his images - a reference to his discovery of an eerie, abandoned farmhouse near his boyhood home. Thanks to Chuck Westfall for organizing the exhibition of Coye prints from the Library's collection.

    Displays

    • Harry Potter Books and Memorabilia -  Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the publication of J.K. Rowlings Sorecerer's Stone - the book that introduced us to Harry Potter and his magical world. Plan to attend the October 31st Sorecerer's Stone readathon in the Library. Watch this space for more event details.
