- # 132 - Franklin - Chartered Nov. 22, 1879.
1st Lt. Franklin T. Hine, Co. I, 144th NYSV. Born in Meredith, NY; farmer;
joined at Meredith Aug. 1862 as Sgt., Co. C, age 32; promoted to 1st Sgt. March
1863; to 1st Lt., Co. I, Nov. 25, 1864; wounded in left leg Nov. 30, 1864 at
Honey Hill, SC; died Dec. 20, 1864 after his leg was amputated at Beaufort, SC,
hospital; left a wife and two minor children; body was sent to friends for
burial in Franklin, NY.
- # 142 - Delhi - Chartered March 11, 1880.
Lt. Col. Theophilus H. England, 89th NYSV. Born in Dutchess County, NY;
parents from England; joined at Delhi as captain Sept. 1861, age 24; promoted
to Lt. Col. Feb. 1863; KIA June 16, 1864 at Petersburg, VA; "Colonel England
was killed on the battlefield after the enemy had been driven from the field
but whether killed by sharpshooter or random shot was not known;" buried in
Delhi Cemetery.

1st Lt. Charles S. Bradford, Co. A, 144th NYSV. Born in Delaware County;
student, age 20; joined at Sidney Aug. 1862 as 1st Sgt., Co. I; rose to 1st
Lt., Co. A, by May 12, 1864; mustered out with regiment June 1865.

Corporal Wilson J. Wells, Co. B, 144th NYSV. Born 1846 in Masonville; farmer;
joined May 1862 as private; promoted to corporal Oct. 1, 1864; wounded Nov. 30,
1864 at Honey Hill, SC; died of wounds Dec. 2, 1864 at US General Hospital,
Hilton Head, SC.
- # 209 - Walton - Chartered April 20, 1881, incorporated April 5,
1887, disbanded Oct. 16, 1952.
Private Benjamin F. Martin, Co. D, 44th NYSV. Born in Walton Feb. 22, 1838;
joined Sept. 1862; local story says he was a bugler; killed by a shell
explosion June 27, 1862 at Gaines Mill, VA; buried there.

- Private Robert S. Fletcher. Born in Andes, NY; oldest son of farm
family with nine children; joined at Delhi Aug. 16, 1862, age 21; appointed
corporal May 1864; mustered out June 1865.
- Private Peter Fletcher. Born in Andes, NY; joined Jan. 15, 1864 at Andes,
age 19; died of typhoid fever July 26, 1864 at General Hospital, Hilton Head,
SC.

Corporal James C. Elliot, Co. G, 144th NYSV. Joined Aug. 1862 at Middletown,
age 20; promoted to corporal Feb. 1863; KIA Nov. 30, 1864 at Honey Hill, SC.

Major General
John A. Logan. Born in 1826 in southern Illinois; lawyer;
Mexican War veteran; Democratic politician; commissioned Brigadier General
March 1862 and Major General Nov. 1862; succeeded McPherson Commander of the
Army of the Tennessee; resigned Aug. 1865 and reentered politics as a
Republican; elected national commander of the G.A.R. at its second, third and
fourth conventions (1868-70); Memorial Day to be celebrated on May 30 was first
instituted by a famous order from Logan to the GAR; died 1886 in Washington, DC
while a member of the Senate; buried at the Soldiers Home National Cemetery.
- # 483 - Hancock - May 15, 1884 to 1923.
Private John Plasket, Co. C, 72d NYSV. Born in Northumberland, England; not
married; joined 72d NYSV June 1861 as a private in Co. I as representative
recruit, age 20; WIA July 1, 1862 at Malvern Hill, VA;reenlisted Dec. 1863;
transferred June 1864 to Co. A, 120th NYSV; wounded Sept. 10, 1864 while on
picket duty at Petersburg, VA; county records say, "wounded in the head, lost
his speech;" 120th NYSV regimental lists him as "Plascot;" the 120th Reg.
history and the NYS AGO roster say he was transferred to the 73d NYSV June 1,
1865 but the 73d's roster does not list him.
- # 512 - Sidney Centre - Chartered June 26, 1894.
1st Lt. George N. Redfield, Co. H, 126th NYSV. Joined the 126th in Geneva as
1st Lt. Aug. 1862, age 26; surrendered and paroled with regiment at Harpers
Ferry; died of disease Nov. 9, 1862 at Chicago, IL.
- # 512 - Davenport - Chartered July 3, 1897.
1st Lt. Nathaniel H. Hebbard, Co. D, 144th NYSV. Born in 1834 in Schoharie
County; farmer; "entered service as a representative recruit" Aug. 1862 at
Davenport as Sgt., Co. I, age 28; promoted to 1st Sgt., then to 2d Lt. March 6,
1864; rose to 1st Lt., Co. D by May 12, 1864; mustered out with regiment June
1865.
- # 612 - Hamden - Chartered May 12, 1889.
Assistant Surgeon William M. Bryce, 144th NYSV. Born in Scotland; joined at
Delhi Sept. 1862 as first assistant surgeon, age 27; mother was a widow, age
65, with three daughters living at home; served until unit's discharge in June
1865; died in 1867 in Hamden; never married; post named in memoriam.
