DAVID DRISCOLL, VET. OF CIVIL WAR, DIES

Lynbrook, L.I., Nov. 8---In the death of David Driscoll
of 105 Smith St., Long Island loses ones of its most
prominent residents. He was born at Rockville Centre in
1841, the son of Capt. John Driscoll and Mary Driscoll.
On October 12, 1861 he enlisted in the Army and was
mustered into service in Wheeler's 13th Individual
Battery, New York Light Artillery, under Captains
William Wheeler, Emil Strumfels and J. Dieckmann. He
fought in many of the war's battles, including Rappa-
hannock Crossing, Second Bull Run, Chancellorsville,
Gettysburg, Lookout Mountain, Mission Ridge, Kenesaw
Mountain, and Murfreesboro. On July 18, 1865, Mr.
Driscoll, who had risen to sergeant, was honorably
discharged. He married Arthusia Abrams at Hempstead
on Nov. 22, 1871.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs.
Henry Raynor, Mrs. Charles Hilderbrandt, and Phoebe
Amelia; five sons, David, Franklin, Lewis, Charles W.,
and Elmer, and 16 grandchildren. Services were held
at his late home this afternoon, the Rev. Mr. Bouton
of St. James M.E. Church and the Rev. Blackwood of
the M.E. Church of Lynbrook, officiating. Interment
will be at Rockville Center.
