- # 33 - Middletown - Post chartered April 2, 1870, revoked in January, 1875;
(some records show post name as "Webber")
Private Daniel E. Webb, Co. K, 124th NYSV. Joined at Wallkill in August of 1862 as Sgt.,
age 21; returned to ranks January, 1863; MWIA and captured May 3, 1863, at
Chancellorsville, VA; paroled May 14, 1863; died August 24, 1863, at Methodist
Church Hospital in Alexandria, VA.

Captain William A. Jackson, Co. K, 124th NYSV. Joined in August, 1862 at Goshen as
Captain, age 23; KIA at Petersburg, June 18, 1864.
- # 52 - Newburgh - October 24, 1869 to 1927.
Brevet Brigadier General Augustus Van Horne Ellis. Born in 1827 in NYC; Columbia
University; California pioneer and sea captain; Captain 7th NYSM; appointed Colonel
of the 124th NYSV in July, 1862; shot through the head July 2, 1863 at Gettysburg;
buried in St. Mark's-in-the-Bowery Churchyard, NYC (Ellis vault #128).

Captain Stephen W. Fullerton, Jr., Co. B, 3d NYSV. Joined at Albany in April, 1861 as
captain, age 26; died at his Newburgh home September 11, 1861.
- # 64 - West Point/Highland Falls - post disbanded 1877.
Lieutenant John T. Greble, 2d US Artillery. The regimental history of the 5th NYSV says,"
Lt. Greble of the 2d Artillery, with 11 regulars and one rifled six-pounder from
Fort Monroe, accompanied the expedition;" "seeing he could not save his gun, he was in
the act of sighting or spiking it when a cannon ball struck him in the temple,
carrying away half his head;" KIA on June 10, 1861, at Big Bethel, Greble was the
"first regular officer who fell in the war," at the "first action in Virginia;" his
body was laid over a caisson and dragged off by men of the 1st NYSV.
- # 105 - Port Jervis - post active during 1872.
Sergeant Benjamin Whitaker, Co. F, 70th NYSV. Enlisted as a corporal at Port Jervis
during April, 1861, age 21; promoted to Sgt. in August, 1863; county history says,
"noted for bravery in battle" and "commanded his company in several battles;" KIA
May 31, 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA.
- # 176 - Goshen - May 21, 1883 to 1921.
Colonel Francis M. Cummins, 124th NYSV. 1st Lt., 10th US Infantry, 1847; Captain in
1848; joined 124th at Goshen in August, 1862 as Lt. Col., age 52; WIA at Gettysburg;
mustered as Colonel, Feb., 1864; WIA at the Wilderness; discharged for wounds on
Sept. 19, 1864.

Brigadier General Nathaniel Lyon, USA. "Named for General Lyon who was killed at
Wilson's Creek."
- # 279 - Port Jervis - Chartered July 13, 1882.
Surgeon Orrin A. Carroll, 143d NYSV. Joined the 56th NYSV at Newburgh in September,
1861 as Assistant Surgeon, age 34; promoted to Surgeon of the 143d NYSV on May 13,
1863; received a disability discharge in Oct., 1863; made brevet Lt. Col. of NY
Volunteers.
- # 301 - Middletown - Chartered January 20, 1894.
Captain William A. Jackson, Co. K, 124th NYSV. Joined August, 1862 at Goshen as
captain, age 23; "a Hamptonburgh man who died fighting at the head of his Middletown
company;" KIA at Petersburgh June 18, 1864.
- # 536 - Montgomery - Chartered January 14, 1885.
Private Chester Judson, Co. H, 124th NYSV. Joined in August of 1862; shot dead while
on picket September 14, 1864; son of Andrew Judson who had seven sons in the army:
John, William (also in 1st NY Mounted Rifles), Albert and Calvin in the 56th NYSV;
Grandison and Chester in the 124th; Thomas in 2d NY Cavalry.
- # 543 - Washingtonville - February 26, 1885 to 1918.
Captain Isaac Nicoll, Co. G, 124th NYSV. Joined in August of 1862 at Goshen as
Captain, age 22; KIA July 2, 1863. Buried in the Washingtonville Cemetery.
- # 546 - Cornwall-on-Hudson - Chartered March 23, 1885.
Private William Emslie, Co. G, 2d NY Cavalry. Joined in Sept., 1861; captured at
Germanna Ford, VA in February, 1864; died at Salisbury Prison, NC.
- # 564 - Walden - Chartered August 15, 1885.
Private William L. Fairchild, Co. H, 124th NYSV. Joined in August, 1862; KIA at
Chancellorsville, VA.
- # 575 - Warwick - Chartered October 26, 1885.
Lieutenant Colonel John J. Wheeler, 56th NYSV. Joined as Captain of Company D in
August of 1861 at Newburgh, age 30; Major August 6, 1862; Lt. Col. Nov. 23, 1862;
discharged Feb. 11, 1864.

2d Lieutenant Michael Mulroy, 6th NY Heavy Artillery. Joined the 36th NYSV at NYC
in May, 1861, age 28; promoted to 1st Sgt., then 1st Lt. in APril, 1862; discharged
in July, 1862; mustered into Co. D, 13th NYHA; promoted to Sgt. Major, the 2d Lt. in
Aug., 1864; mustered into 6th NYHA in July, 1865 and discharged with unit.
- # 598 - Highland Falls - Chartered July 20, 1886.
Private Franklin B. Ryder, Co. B, 36th NYSV. Joined in June of 1861; died of
yellow fever in a Washington Hospital, buried there at the Soldiers' Home.
- # 622 - Highland Falls (Mills) - Chartered March 27, 1888.
Sergeant Richard R. Hunter, Co. A, 56th NYSV. Joined as Sgt. at Newburgh in July,
1861, age 24; mustered out with company on August 16, 1864.
- # 672 - Port Jervis - Chartered February 19, 1907.
Surgeon Solomon Van Etten, 56th NYSV. Joined in Sept., 1861 at Newburgh, age 32;
mustered out October 7, 1864; brevet Lt. Col. of NY Volunteers.
