Letters of William H. Emslie,
Co. G, 2d N.Y. Cavalry
William Emslie was born in 1843 in Cornwall, New York, and he died
on June 25, 1864 at Andersonville. He had enlisted on August 12, 1861 at
Newburgh, and on August 30 was mustered into Company G of the 2d New York
Cavalry.
In 1885, the Grand Army of the Republic Post #546, located in
Cornwall-on-Hudson, was named for William H. Emslie.
