Co. E, 149th NYSV

                Pleasant Valley Oct. 9th
Dear Sister
As I have not heard from home since
I left I now drop a few lines to you
hoping that you will answer it as soon as
received I have written home twice once
from Elmira and once from Frederick and I
think it is time that I was hearing from some
of you I am well and enjoying myself
first rate fattening up every day We have
pork beef beans rice bacon coffee
crackers bags[?] and skippers and I can say
that we have plenty to eat such as it
is I can live on it some of the boys
are growing thin our knapsacks came
here last night We have not received
them yet but expect to today I cannot
afford to write any more until I hear
from home so good by,
   from your affectionate brother
                    J.A. Morrison
When I direct any thing home for
Delia see that she has it as soon as
possible
