Before we begin, some little things
you should know about:
database: An electronic collection of information. In the library, a database usually consists of articles.
periodicals: Magazines, newspapers, journals ... any printed material that is published on a recurring basis.
citation: The main details of an article or book, such as the title, author, date, publisher etc.
full-text: The entire article, available on your screen for you to print out.
abstract: A summary of an article which gives the main points, usually one or two paragraphs long.
keyword search: Searches All Fields (i.e., everything), and searches the largest amount of information.
subject search: Searches for your
word as a topic.
